This custom land departure begins in Lisbon, on to Porto with a stay at the incomparable Yeatman Hotel, a flight to Aix-en-Provence for a couple of days, and rail to Zurich, where our journey ends just in time to join Alpine Gems then next morning!
If you combined with the Silversea crossing, it arrives in Lisbon on March 24th. If you combined with Alpine Gems, it begins April 1st in Zurich (where this tour ends)!
We’ll enjoy eight wonderful days exploring historic cities, charming villages, world-famous wine regions, and beautiful countryside before arriving in Zurich to join the remainder of our Alpine Gems travelers.
Depending on how you arrived in Lisbon, we’ll pick you up at the cruise port or airport with our private coach and begin our journey north toward Porto.
Note, if you’re not taking the cruise AND plan on arriving in Lisbon a few days early on your own, you will need to meet us at one of the two pick up points, which we can help arrange in advance.
Along the way we’ll stop in the picturesque seaside town of Nazaré, famous for its dramatic Atlantic coastline, traditional fishing heritage, and record-breaking surfing waves.
By late afternoon we’ll arrive in Porto and settle into our elegant five-star hotel overlooking the Douro River.

Today we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour through one of Europe’s most charming cities.

This morning we return south by private coach.
Along the way we’ll stop in either the colorful canals of Aveiro or the historic Knights Templar town of Tomar, depending upon final operating arrangements.

Today’s excursion takes us into the hills surrounding Lisbon.
We’ll visit the enchanting town of Sintra, including magnificent Pena Palace, one of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks. Note: if you’ve already been to Pena Palace, you can have free time in center of Sintra instead, or stay at the hotel in Lisbon and explore on your own there. That being said, I’ve been to Pena Palace twice and am looking forward to seeing it again.
Following lunch, we’ll return to Lisbon, stopping for photos at the famous Belém Tower before enjoying a relaxing evening.
This morning we’ll fly from Lisbon to Marseille (Flight Included, Economy)
Upon arrival we’ll be greeted by our local guide and private motorcoach before enjoying a panoramic introduction to France’s oldest city.
Later this afternoon we’ll continue to elegant Aix-en-Provence, our home for the next three nights.
A Welcome Dinner is included this evening.

Today we’ll discover two of Provence’s greatest treasures.
Enjoy free time exploring the historic streets of Avignon before continuing into the celebrated vineyards of **Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Enjoy free time to stroll narrow streets, browse local boutiques, and soak in the timeless atmosphere of rural Provence.
This evening we’ll celebrate our final night together in France.
This morning we’ll travel by rail through France into Switzerland, enjoying one of Europe’s great train journeys.
Upon arrival in Zurich we’ll transfer to our hotel at The Circle, conveniently located adjacent to Zurich Airport.
Tonight we’ll gather for one final evening before joining our Alpine Gems adventure.

Following breakfast, if you are joining us for the next adventure, we’ll meet the remainder of our Alpine Gems travelers and begin the next chapter of our adventure through Switzerland and Italy.
Otherwise you will be in exactly the right place to fly home!
This adventure requires a minimum of 8 guests, not including your hosts Michael & Kelly. After that, the max is 24 guests. The more that sign up and travel, the price will improve for everyone.
Prices are Per Person, estimated and subject to change prior to deposit, based on availability and double occupancy. They include land, accommodations, transfers, and all items shown as included in the itinerary, taxes, and fees. Prices do not include international Airfare. This trip requires a minimum number of guests to depart and if it does not reach that number, all guests signed up will be returned their deposits. Otherwise all payments are nonrefundable.
