Graham’s Custom Safaris

Does bespoke travel appeal to you? Don’t want to follow the herd (well, with the exception of great migration)? Let us work together to build your safari your way.

A Custom Safari

This is the safari your way. You can combine features from our Dream, Family, or Hakuna Matata Safaris: the inclusion level, the lodge luxuriousness, the number of days…anything. You can make it a completely private safari, or have a Tour Escort from day one. Perhaps you’d like to add a helicopter safari, private jet, or even an OceanCruise Airship – for our advisors this where we love to shine, crafting the perfect adventure.

Choose from the best of everything, with exclusive access and add recommended free time to enjoy these one-of-a-kind resorts that are experiences in themselves. This is what is know as slow travel and you are going to like it! Plus, your safari can include, or not include, exactly what you want.

As a custom safari, you will be with a certified Excellent Guide in our Land Cruise safari vehicle with 2 to 6 passengers, and even additional vehicles for a larger private group.. The custom can include VIP meet & greet airport, Visa fee with behind-the-scenes airport assistance, airport transfers, Wi-Fi, All meals, unique lunch on the Ngorongoro crater floor, and an exclusive Bush Lunch in the Serengeti. It’s up to you. We recommend you review our 3 pre-charted safaris and determine what you like about each for a starting point with your safari advisor.

Do you want to include All adult drinks, All beverages, an amazing Serengeti sunrise balloon ride with champagne breakfast, VIP check-in Services? Do you prefer drive back to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha (with extra game drives), or instead fly intra-tour air from the Serengeti!

Essentially everything you can get on safari is up to you! Even if you wish to have ALL gratuities pre-paid, we are happy to include those as well.

Choose from High-End Hotels, Lodges, and Luxury Tented Camps: Gran Melia Arusha, Elewana Tarangire TreeTops, The Manor Ngorongoro, Serengeti Four Seasons Lodge, and depending on season, either Mara Mara Tented Lodge or Lake Masek Tented Lodge – or similar** (or we have a wide variety shown on our other safaris as well).

TBA per person, based on double occupancy, based on your custom built safari.

Departs when you want, though you may wish to avoid January and April.

Single Supplement: TBA

This is a custom experience, so you can add an extension, such as Zanzibar, a Gorrilla Trek in Rwanda, or both!

General Information

Maasai

All of our safaris include a visit with these amazing people.

The Maasai tribe lives in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are known for their welcoming dances where the man sings and jumps as high as possible with straight legs, to show how fit and strong they are. The woman stands at the side, singing with the man and doing a special dance for women only.

The Masai believe that all the cows in the world belong to them and were given to them by god. A family’s wealth is measured by the number of cows they own.

The Masai tribe lives in villages (Manyata) and each woman builds a small house (boma) for her family. The boma’s structure is made of wood and it is covered by a mix of mud, wood and sticks, grass, cow dung, human urine, and ash. Traditionally, men wear sheets that are wrapped around the body. Usually, the main color is red but you can see some blue colors and a paid pattern. Men and women are wearing ornaments made of colorful beads.

When to go to Tanzania

It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous – over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June.

During the months of July-September, the herds will cross the Mara River again and again in search of fresh grass. They will have to face the mighty crocodiles in the river, who are waiting quietly in the water for their opportunity. Serengeti is also known as the “endless plains” in the Maasai language.

Notes

Please know that we cannot give any guarantee for the described animal observations on our trips.

These are wild animals in the wild whose behavior can never be guaranteed. For this reason, no travel price refund is possible if some animals are not seen.

However, our experienced safari guides will use all their experience and knowledge to provide you with as much adventure and wildlife observation as possible.

The opening hours of the national parks are daily from 06:00 – 18:00. Please understand the maximum length of stay (until 18:00 hrs.) cannot always be exhausted, as many sections of the route in Tanzania should not be traveled in the dark. Wishes or comments can be discussed with your local tour guide.

We are obliged to point out that this journey is generally not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. If you have special needs (e.g. a wheelchair, walker, oxygen unit, or similar) or health restrictions that affect your ability to travel, please inform us before booking so that we can check whether the trip is suitable for you. COVID 19 Travel Notice
The government in collaboration with the tourism private sector through the guidance of the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDEC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) jointly developed Standard Operating (SOPs) to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in tourism-related activities in the country.

Amref Flying Doctors
During your round trip in Tanzania (including Zanzibar) you are covered by our local partner agency through a tourist membership with the Amref Flying Doctors. The Amref Flying Doctors membership enables you to be evacuated in a medical emergency and flown to the nearest local hospital.

However, this membership does not replace (foreign) health insurance – it only covers medically necessary transport and does not include return transport to your home country.

Problems and complaints
We want to make your trip unforgettable and meet all your wishes and demands. However, please let your guide or the staff know immediately if any inconvenience arises during your trip.

We will leave no stone unturned to solve the problems as quickly as possible. An honest word on the spot is more effective than a subsequent letter of complaint.
