Hailing from the Buckeye State, Troy moved to Murrells Inlet in 2015, via a home purchased with the real estate expertise of Kelly Graham. Within a few months of arriving, Troy began his career with MGA Travel. Troy’s primary responsibility at MGA Travel is to work with clients on building the trip of their dreams, whether that be a River Cruise, Ocean Cruise, or Land Tour. Troy also works with various groups on creating their reservations, and occasionally traveling with those groups as a host. See Travels with Troy to travel with him!
Having graduated from the Ohio State University, Troy originally put his Business degree to work in the technology industry. After ten years of working in Columbus, Ohio, Troy went back to school to acquire a high school teaching degree. The next twelve years were spent near Lima, Ohio, teaching high school Business classes, coaching the Varsity Baseball team, and working as an Athletic Director. During all of this time, Troy, his wife Sue, and their sons Jaret and Luke, spent a lot of time in Myrtle Beach. This was due to the fact that Troy’s parents had bought a house there, about thirty blocks from where his brother Jason had been living since 1998. Troy’s hobbies include kayaking in the ocean and inlet, bike riding, reading, listening to live music, and walking his dog Gunny on the beach. When it comes to travel, Troy loves going to new places and exploring off the beaten path. His recent trip to the Mediterranean, during which he was able to spend several days with family in Italy, host a wonderful group, and attend a Jimmy Buffett concert in Paris, is one of his favorite travel experiences. His favorite destinations are Alaska, Italy, Bonaire, Greek Islands. Sue, Troy’s wife, is a nursing professor at Coastal Carolina University. Their oldest son, Jaret, attends Winthrop University and is a pitcher on the baseball team. His younger brother Luke is a catcher/outfielder for The Citadel in Charleston. Much of the family’s time in the Spring and Summer is spent watching the boys play baseball, and it’s certainly going to be a memorable moment this Spring when their two teams play each other!
